Dunhill

In 1907, Alfred Dunhill opened his first tobacco shop on Duke Street, St. James's, which soon became renowned for its excellent tobacco blends. Three years later he started his own pipe production (out of dissatisfaction with the quality of the pipes supplied). Distinctive mark since 1915: 'The White Spot' on the mouthpiece.

The most important innovation of the early years was the introduction of the sandblasted 'Shell Briar' pipe: the most popular Dunhill finish, which goes back to 1917.

Today Dunhill pipes, which are still handcrafted in London, are prestigious collector's pieces, sought after by pipe connoisseurs all over the world.
